For the first three editions of the course (held in 2014, 2015 and 2016), more than 330 people came from 48 countries to join us in the Castle of Poppi. In addition, 42 leading international companies in the field of geotechnical and structural monitoring participated to the course, thus sharing their innovative products and technical solutions.

It has been hard work to meet the requirement of the attendees, but the positive feedback received is encouraging us to continue with these courses.

For the 2016 edition we introduced new sessions on “New Monitoring Trends” and and “Case Histories and Lessons Learned” with presentations given by practitioners and exhibitors.

For the 2017 edition we are planning to continue highlighting the latest technical innovations. We invite all of you to complete the relevant part of the questionnaire below if you have some innovation to share with our community

We are also planning to add some side courses to provide practical basic know-how on how to use the most common monitoring systems. We would very much appreciate if you would provide your views on this by completing the questionnaire below:

Get the Questionnaire!

We are now looking forward to the 2017 edition, hoping to meet again some old friends and to make new ones!

Best Regards

Paolo & John

“During each of the fist two courses in 2014 and 2015 we invited about twelve colleagues to make presentations.

For the third course we’ve looked for ways to increase interactions among course participants and to give some of our course partners the opportunity to share their experiences with us. We’ve therefore invited additional colleagues to make brief presentations about new trends in geotechnical and structural monitoring. We’re excited that eleven of them have accepted our invitation, and believe that this will very much increase the value of the 2016 course.

Three sessions will be devoted to these presentation –  an outline is showed below.

We are really looking forward to meeting you in Poppi!”

After two successful editions of the International Course on Geotechnical and Structural Monitoring (held in Poppi, Tuscany, Italy in June 2014 and June 2015) that attracted more than 200 registrants from 34 countries and 32 partners, we’re now working hard to organise a third edition in 2016. 25 speakers have contributed to the high professional level of the past courses and we’re looking for improvements and innovation. Some new expert speakers are expected for the next edition. We plan to invite registrants to interact with us well before the start of the course, to discuss the possibility of them making presentations about new monitoring trends and about case histories and lessons learned.

After the 2015 course we had an exciting field trip to the Poggio Baldi landslide (www.landslidemonitoring.com), where 10 companies made demonstrations of their equipment. We’re exploring the possibility of another field trip combined with the 2016 course.”

AIAT_logo_RGBAIAT – Association of Environmental and Planning Engineers, is a no-profit organisation established in 1999 to represent graduated and students in Environmental Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano. Then, in 2009, the representation has been extended at a national level.
AIAT’s main objective is the promotion of the role of the environmental engineer, a professional capable of tackling complex environmental issues with an integrated approach.
With this objective in mind, many activities are carried out to raise the public awareness: a quarterly newsletter is distributed to about 1000 external contacts (e.g. Academic world, Public Administrations, Professionals, Companies etc.); AIAT and its representatives take part in many thematic exhibitions, conferences and congresses; the articles and papers are published in relevant technical magazines.
Since 2003, AIAT is a member of EFAEP, and collaborated with it at the development of ENEP – European Network of Environmental Professionals, a web-portal collecting thousands of profiles of European environmental professionals.

A second objective of AIAT, equally important, is to foster the exchange of information among the members, about 600 and active in many fields of expertise: pollution remediation and soil protection, energy management, climate changes, waste management, environmental monitoring, Environmental Management Systems, transports planning and many more.

The main tool developed to pursue this objective is an extremely efficient mailing list, that also circulates more than 100 job offers per year.Furthermore, AIAT website (www.ingegneriambientali.it), counting more than 9000 visits per month, publishes news on meetings, conferences, courses, job offers; useful documents such as legislative texts, presentations, papers, etc; a dedicated search engine, CercAmbiente, storing more than 400 thematic links.
AIAT is funded only by the fees paid by its members. The Supporting members in particular, consisting in about 30 engineering companies, research centres and Public Administrations, receive through AIAT support in recruiting personnel with targeted researches and collaborate with the Association in the organisation of thematic conferences, courses and exhibitions related to the Environmental Engineering.

All AIAT associates will benefit of a 10% discount on the course fee. To benefit of the discount please select “Affiliation program – 10%” on the “Discount” field and specify AIAT during the online registration: www.geotechnicalmonitoring.com/registration-form/
