VENUE
The venue of the ICGSM 2023 will be held in Rome, the eternal city.
The opening day will be hosted at the Aula Magna of Sapienza University of Rome, in the heart of Sapienza’s Campus. Today, Sapienza is the largest university in Europe with 67 active departments and 145,000 enrolled students.
The exhibition area and master classes will be held in the Ex Cartiera Latina in San Giovanni’s neighbourhood, one of the ancient area of Rome, rich of historical architecture and archeological ruins inside the Appia Antica Park.

Opening Event at Aula Magna
The Aula Magna is the institutionally most important space of the universities, and as such the architect Marcello Piacentini placed it at the core of the Rector’s building.
The 900 square metres’ Aula ends with an apsidal tribune defined by a curved wall with the mural L’Italia tra le Arti e le Scienze by the painter Mario Sironi, a leading exponent of the ‘Novecento group’. The artwork, realised in just over three months, represents an epic vision of history, with the personification of Fascist Italy amidst symbolic images of the humanities and sciences.
Ex Cartiera Latina
Exhibition, Master Classes and demos
The Ex cartiera Latina is located in the Appia Antica Regional Park, between the pine trees of the Caffarella Park and the archaeological remains of ancient Rome. In this suggestive location, the industrial building of the ‘ex cartiera Latina’ was converted into an exhibition space with two large halls for conferences and trade fairs in 1998.
The Appia Antica Ar Park starts from Aurelian Walls and it goes alond the Via Appia. The Via Appia, which was called longarum Regina viarum (i.e. “queen of the long roads”) by Caecilius Statius, was built centuries after, in 312 BC.
ACCOMODATIONS
The ICGSM 2023 offers agreements with the hotels closest to the venue and a shuttle service is provided from metro station A San Giovanni.
