“The large international participation to the course is a demonstration that the observational method has gained a key role in the geotechnical and structural engineering practice. Several opportunities are now available for carrying out geotechnical and structural monitoring, but when you realize that you can measure millimeters also from the sky it is unquestionable that the observational method is becoming a complex discipline requiring advanced professional training”.
Paolo Mazzanti
“Il primo Corso di monitoraggio geotecnico e strutturale” is the title of the article published on “Strade&Autostrade” (EDI-CEM Srl – Rivista “Strade & Autostrade”), an important italian magazine of design and maintenance of large-scale infrastructure (online.stradeeautostrade.it).
“Dear colleagues,
registrants are from 27 countries, predominately from Europe but also from Asia, North and South America, Africa and Australia. Currently we find ourselves in the unexpected position of being almost ‘sold out’ for this year’s course! A few spare seats are still available, so if you’d like to join us, please register very soon. Now that we’re encouraged by the worldwide interest in the course, we plan to offer a second course on 4-6 June, 2015, also in Tuscany – the same region as the 2014 course. Perhaps in Poppi, perhaps elsewhere. The 2015 edition will not be an exact repeat, as we already have ideas for different topics, and of course we’ll learn from evaluations of the 2014 course.
I very much look forward to meeting some of you in June”.
